Saturday June 8. Day 21

3 weeks is officially over. We had a full run through of the show tonight. It is extremely exhausting. We had the best rehearsal day today. We accomplished a lot and we had excellent rehearsal technique. I'm sun kissed but not burnt. Today was a good day.
Schedule

Graduation go away,
So we can use our fields today.

We had 1 field today. And the stadium. Lots of walking.

I got to my dorm room tonight exhausted. And the fire department was there and evacuated the building. Wonderful.

Friday June 7th. Day 20

This morning we expected heavy rains from the tropical storm. The worst part was that for the day, there was only 1 gym available for us to use. The other gyms had basketball and wrestling. To rephrase my previous point, the entire corps had to share 1 gym. As in all of the color guard, the battery, the front ensemble, and the whole brass line. Basically the staff fought to the death for the gym. On the schedule above, the brass were to somehow practice in the dorms. Sectionals in the bathrooms, etc. the guard snagged the gym. And the battery simply had a location of "OMG."

This morning we woke up expecting an awful day of sectionals. But it never started to rain. The brass started playing outside and we changed/adjusted music. We also practiced the encore tunes. We will be having our preseason recording after lunch.

Baritones practicing their feature and choreography in the center of the brass circle. (Chill time for us:))

More of the circle during brass.

It's lunch time right now. Still not raining. The next sentence will be an update at dinner.

It's dinner time. I got burnt. Yes. My body is burnt. My skin is burnt. Michael Klesch took out is shotgun and shot a hole through the tropical storm. There was sun today. And I got burnt. It was great.

It's 8:30 at night. We are done with rehearsal for the night. We finished learning the drill for the show. It's done. Time to work it to perfection.

Anddd I just got a buzz cut. Before and after

Thursday june 6th. Day 19

Today is the actual day 19. I must have lost count somewhere.

We did some more drill this morning.
I'll reveal some of my drill spots this Sunday after the preview show. You'll be able to find me at certain spots in the show.

It's raining. The tropical storm is coming. I'm making more friends. This is fun. Goodnight.

Nevermind I went to McDonalds. It was very yummy. Okay goodnight.

Day 19

Visual staff during the closer at ensemble last night. "The drill is possible. It's pushing the limits of possible, but it can be done."

Hi mom!

We were supposed to have ensemble tonight. But a giant monsoon came through.. So we scurried away to a far away gym that is practically off campus and practiced a new encore tune there.

After that we walked to another gym and had another dance class. It was very entertaining and fun. We also learned a lot!

Day 18- closer drill!!!!!

The closer drill its pretty nuts. The first two sets are a tease. Nice and easy steps. Then all of a sudden people are darting across the field at 5 to 5s! Not to mention we are playing during this. Last night we had a run through of everything up to the start of the closer. I was drenched in sweat after that much. I can't believe I have to play the closer after that.

Our run through tonight left me drenched with sweat and at a need for calories. I was so sweaty that I could have just walked out of a pool. It was the greatest feeling ever knowing that I worked so hard to be able to do that with my new friends here at crown. It makes me happy to know that everyone here comes from across the country to do what they love.

Day 17. Free day

Monday June 3rd

I woke up at 7:45. I showered and lazily walked around. At 8:45 I walked to the dining hall for breakfast. The doors were locked. It closed at 8:30. The best way to start my free day. Awesome.

Here is today's schedule.

Hanging out in the lobby. Its 11am. I'm pretty sure that 90% of the corps is still asleep.

My wrist is wrapped up. If I put pressure on the ulnar nerve by doing a handstand or bending my wrist, my pinky and ring fingers will go numb and then throb with burning pins and needles. There is something swelling in my wrist that is pushing against this nerve causing this pain. At night I ice my wrist.

Tonight during our 1 short block. We ran through chucks of the show. It was humid and I was drenched in sweat. Right before it was too dark to see, we had a run through of what know so far. 3/4 of our show!!! It was really tiring (but super amazing). Tomorrow we are learning drill for the closer!!!!!!!' So excited!

Got my shoe insoles today. Can't wait for comfort!

Day 16. Back at crown

Sunday June 2nd

Nice view of Charlotte from the plane

I'm not even sure what day # it is. If someone wants to count and tell me thatd be cool. Day 1 was May 19. I moved in on May 18 Abut it wasn't a full day so it was day 0.

Today was fun. There were drum major leadership campers here for the weekend! I caught the tail end of them this afternoon when I arrived. I guess they learned how to conduct this weekend because we played an encore tune for them to conduct. It was lots of fun.

I waited at the airport an hour in charlotte for someone to pick me up. Yay. That was lots of fun. I talked to Allie on the phone the whole time haha:)

At the end of the night we had a dance instructor come in from California to teach us dance basics. He was this young awesome asian dude. We started out with this hip hop dance stretch they got us all excited. After that the dance lesson transformed into ballet. We learned all of the positions with feet and hands, pliés, demi-pliés, grand pliés, relevés, tendus, sautés, Rond de jambes, passé, and more. The funniest part was the New Age music that we were doing the ballet exercises to.
